Feb. 12th through the 16th is Support the Troops week, brought to you by the College Republicans. Despite whatever political party you choose to support please come by the table on the mall just west of Old Main and SUPPORT THE TROOPS!!!
We will have all sorts of ways you can show your appreciation for the United States military...here are just a few, but VERY important, ways you can show you care:
1. MAKE DONATIONS! Every last dime we get will be donated to the USO. Check them out at www.uso.org
2. MAKE EVEN MORE DONATIONS! But instead of money, bring stuff to make care packages with. This includes toiletries that won?t melt but are needed, like toothbrushes, mouthwash, Listerine pocket strips, BABY WIPES, VISINE. Playing Cards and portable video devises that don?t require batteries. FOOD THAT WONT MELT OR SPOIL like chips, cookies, bottled water, cereal, fruit snacks. Anything that says THANKS!
3. COME WRITE A THANK YOU NOTE!!! Stop by the table for a minute to write a thank you note to a troop. THEY REALLY APPRECIATE IT!!!
4. GET INFORMED!!! We will be handing out a LOT of information about all the branches of the military and about other organizations that support the troops 24/7/365.
COME OUT FEB. 12th TRHOUGH THE 16th AND SHOW THE ARMED FORCES SOME MUCH DESERVED LOVE AND APPRECIATION!!!
TELL EVERYONE YOU KNOW TO COME BY THE TABLE ALL WEEK AND THANK THE TROOPS!!!
"As the VERY proud sister of a US Marine (Oorah!) I personally invite EVERYONE on campus to please SUPPORT THE TROOPS. If you don?t have time to stop by the table please make the time to check out some of the websites below. It means a lot to the troops and to their families when people take even five minutes every once and a while to give thanks to them for the selfless job they have given their lives to." - Erin McMahon, Chair of Support Our Troops Week.

Thank you to the 25 or so folks who participated late last night in Operation Patriot. As I left my guard duty this morning, the flags looked beautiful in the morning light. It seemed a very fitting and honorable way to remember those tragically taken from us five years ago.

More pictures will be up soon.

University of Arizona students put up 3000 flags to honor all the victims of 9.11.01
UA WILDCATS WILL NEVER FORGET.
TUCSON- Students of the University of Arizona set up 2,997 American flags to honor and celebrate the lives of the victims of September 11th, 2001. The flags were displayed on Heritage Hill of the Alumni Plaza in front of the Administration Building on the University of Arizona Campus.
"Putting up these flags is a fitting tribute to the 3000 heros that were wrongly taken from us five years ago. The events of 9/11 forever changed the lives of many Americans, and forever changed the global landscape. Freedom is not free, and we must never give up the fight," said Blake Rebling, UA College Republican President.
The flags will be present until 8 pm of Monday September 11th. They will be taken out by the University of Arizona's College Republicans after the conclusion of the Freedom Walk Memorial Ceremony.
Blake Rebling, UA College Republican President, and Sara Pat Badgley, UA College Republican Director of Communication, will be present to comment. Sara Pat Badgley can be reached at 928.446.3546. | Blake Rebling President |

The Arizona Daily Star covered some of the events at the last UACR meeting, specifically the candidate forum we had for Congressional District 8.
It is half way down on this article.
Ron Drake (candidate for Congress in CD7!) is coming out tomorrow, Tuesday August 29th. Be there! For more information check out "Upcoming Events" here on our website. | Blake Rebling President |
The first meeting of the University of Arizona College Republicans was a huge success. Over 70 students and community members were in attendance, including many new freshmen. All of the members were briefed on what the UACR?s are all about, what they can do to help the Republican cause, and they got to hear three Congressional District 8 candidates speak: Randy Graf, Steve Huffman, and Mike Jenkins.
At the end of the meeting Arizona Senator Jon Kyl, 4th in the U.S. Senate Leadership, called in and briefed everyone on the status of his campaign and other campaigns around the country.
Thank you to everyone for coming out! Please get involved and help make Republicans victorious this fall!
Our next meeting will be next Tuesday August 29th, same time and same place, 7:30 PM in the Kiva room. Hope to see you there! | Blake Rebling President |
